Read MoreWelcome to Blue Horizon Lodge, a timeless retreat nestled in the heart of Big Bear Lake. Built in the 1940s, this charming lodge was originally created as an escape from the summer heat for visitors from the lower-elevation cities. Over the decades, it has been lovingly maintained and passed down through three families, each contributing to its rich history.
In December 2017, our family proudly became its caretakers, inheriting its legacy as Blue Horizon Lodge, previously known as Apache Lodge and Russian Village. During the transition, we had the privilege of connecting with the Wood family, who operated the lodge from 1977, and their stories added depth to our appreciation of this special place.
We embarked on a year-long renovation journey to blend modern comforts with the lodge’s rustic charm. With the help of local Big Bear craftsmen and lots of family teamwork, we introduced tankless water heaters, a new drainage system, central heating, rain gutters, and replaced carpets with water-resistant hardwood floors. Each cabin now features a brand-new kitchen with elegant quartz countertops, ensuring a cozy and luxurious stay for every guest.
Our mission is to preserve the lodge’s historical essence while providing an unforgettable experience.
